The Ashe County Historical Society is in the process of digitizing historical photos for future generations, but we need your help. If you have a historical photo that captures a person, place, or event significant to Ashe County history, we would like to digitally preserve it. We hope that by preserving these photos before they are damaged or lost, they will be available for future generations. A few things to consider:

With modern digital cameras and portable scanners, digitization is fast and simple, only 1-2 seconds per photo

We only want to digitize photos, not collect them; we do not need to take possession of your original pictures

We are happy to arrange a meeting in a central location, or we will come to you

History is lost unless we make a collective effort to save it. Think of how many photos have already been lost, destroyed, or trashed. What will you do to save Ashe County’s history for those who come after you?

If you have photos that you would like to see preserved, contact us, or send an email to info@ashehistoricalsociety.org and we will contact you to arrange a schedule for digitization that works for you.
