The Museum of Ashe County History is launching a Who’s Who in Ashe County History. This project will seek to recognize notable citizens who have significantly contributed to the development of Ashe County. Candidates for this recognition will be nominated by community members. A committee will then select the winners. Those historical figures that are selected will be recognized at the annual meeting of the Museum of Ashe County History. Any living descendants and the person who submitted the nomination will be invited to the ceremony. Those historical figures who are selected will be honored in a exhibit at the museum with future winners being added as they are selected.
This year, our goal is to nominate citizens from early Ashe County history. For that reason, all nominees this year must have died prior to 1960. In future years, more recent citizens will be eligible for recognition.
If you would like to nominate someone who you feel is deserving of recognition for their historical contributions to Ashe County, you can fill out this form. If you prefer to hand write your nomination, forms can be picked up at the Museum of Ashe County History.
