Otto Wood, “Robin Hood of the Blue Ridge”

After the regular meeting of the historical society at 5:30 pm on Monday, October 13th we will have a program starting at 6:30 pm.  Herb Key, Wilkes County luthier and musician and leader of the Elkville String Band, and Trevor McKenzie, one of the librarians at ASU will present a program about Otto Wood.  Mr. Wood was an outlaw, literally declared so, from back in the teens, twenties, and until Dec. 31, 1930 when he was gunned down on the streets of Salisbury.  These fellows have many materials to show and can perform three different songs written and recorded rather soon after Otto Wood’s death.  This is an amazing story.  We invite everyone to attend this presentation.
